    Hi,

I try to change the “Meta Descrption” of my page. However, after saving the change and clear the cache, I load the page https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/, but find it is still using the old version of the meta description in <meta name=”description” …. Why? Is there a delay that the change will be reflected?

I try to change the title and the change is reflected immediately.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @chcw,

    Sorry for the trouble.

Just to clarify, as we checked the source of the page of the given page, we noticed the following meta description being outputted:

<meta name="description" content="DataNumen Outlook Repair is the best FREE Outlook repair and recovery tool in the world. It can repair the corrupt Outlook PST files and recover all emails and other data in them as much as possible, thereby minimizing the loss in file corruption."/>

Is it not the one you’ve specified via Yoast SEO custom meta description?

If so, can you please clear all your caching from your theme, plugin, server, CDN like CloudFlare or browser.

Also, please confirm that you’ve the latest version of Yoast SEO.

    Let us know the results.

    Hi,

I try to clear all the cache but that does not work. Also I am using the latest version of Yoast SEO.

I change the description for several pages, with the following two methods:

    1. I perform the change by using Better Search & Replace to replace the contents in _yoast_wpseo_metadesc in wp_postmeta table directly.

    2. I also manually change the description in Yoast SEO Bulk Editor.

It seems that those changed directly in wp_postmeta will not be reflected to the page. But those I change manually via Yoast SEO Bulk Editor will be reflected to the page.

Is there something that I do wrong when changing wp_postmeta directly?

    Hello @chcw!

Starting from version 14.0 of Yoast SEO, we started using a custom database table for our metadata. We didn’t remove the data from wp_postmeta though, we just copied it to where we could access it most efficiently.

If you want the data from wp_postmeta copied, you need to reset the Yoast database tables by doing the following steps:

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Hit the “Reset indexables & migrations” button
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Process and speed up site” button to allow Yoast to rescan your pages
