Change Page Template on-the-fly ?

    Ive created two page templates, one for red flowers, one for yellow flowers (as an example). Currently, I when add a new page, I select the appropriate template and also, via a custom field select menu, also select Red flowers or Yellow Flowers. Works fine.

    Each page template then displays the data accordingly.

    Im wondering if I could simplify this and keeping the custom field select option, when the page is viewed, some php code takes this value and uses the appropriate page template on-the-fly ?

    Im not overly knowledgeable on how wordpress selects the page template from the admin area and selects the page template when viewing pages, but just wondered if page templates can be changed dynamically?

    Im thinking it may have something to do with:

    locate_template($template_names, $load = false, $require_once = true )
    or get_template()?
