  • If there is, I’d like to know about it! When I changed my permalink structure, that’s exactly what I had to do. But I didn’t use a rewrite rule; I issued a “301 Moved Permanently” redirect like so:

    Redirect 301 /archives/2005/ https://jonlandrum.com/2005/

    This way is a little more semantic, as the bots will stop trying to access the old address (except for MSNbot, which seems to search for both random addresses on the server, and for addresses it knows full well don’t exist anymore.)
