Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have more questions now than before! :*)
    .htaccess should read what?
%postname%, goes in the htaccess or someplace else?
The postname just makes a “page-title”… how do I get the “.html” at the end?
Will php still work if I am html?

    1. Same question: What? As far as I’m aware, .htaccess can’t read. :)

    2. Your custom permalink stuff (%postname% etc) are set up under the Options > Permalink page. Once you’ve set a permalink structure and clicked “Update Permalink Structure”, you should get output of what’s to go in your .htaccess.

    3. %postname%.html

    4. Yes, as it’s not a *real* filename, but a virtual one being passed through the mod_rewrite rules.

It is important to read the entire permalinks page (Options/Permalinks) before doing anything. If you had, you would know that after setting your permalinks, WP will tell you (via the bottom-most text field) what to put into your .htaccess.

I’m trying to change my permalinks to the year/month/day/postname format. I’ve got the stuff I have to put in my .htaccess but wordpress tells me there is no such file. What do I do now?! Please help! Thanks!

don’t worry, found this link: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic.php?id=20410#post-116078

But I still can’t get them to work.. so won’t worry about it for now! (unless someone can tell my why links cant find the pages)
