• I have a problem I believe I can fix, but I’m not sure where to find the proper place to implement any fix. Here’s the situation:

    – I have an Admin and an Editor login I use, the Editor is for writing/posting
    – I use MarsEdit and post under the Editor login
    – I want to use Blogsy on iPad and Byword on Mac to post under Editor login
    – Editor username and password settings for Blogsy and Byword are rejected as incorrect
    – Admin username and password settings for Blogsy and Byword work, and I can post through those clients.

I’m not crippled, but ideally want to use a client to post as Editor. This looks like a permissions issue, but fine-grained in that one client works and others don’t. Can anyone help me with what database/installation file to look at where I can tune the permissions?

    Thanks

  • This doesn’t sound like a permissions problem. If you are able to authenticate and post using the editor account with MarsEdit then you should be able to do the same with any app that uses the XML-RPC protocol. Can you double check to make sure you are entering the correct username password combination. Also I would try creating another editor user and add those credentials to Blogsy to check.

Well, perhaps it’s not a permissions problem, but it’s absolutely NOT an incorrect password/username combination – they are stored in and copied from 1Password. Trust me that after several dozen entries I have eliminated that as the source.

Also, I’ve created a dummy Editor level user, tried those credentials in Blogsy and Byword and get the same problem. This is why it seems to me to be a permissions problem, attached to a very specific protocol.
