    Hello,

I’m hoping to enable the various gallery layout types (tiled etc) offered by WordPress on portfolio project pages.

The large scrolling page of large images doesn’t quite work for the content I want to display. I know this is a core aesthetic of Orvis but I would like to use the theme but regain the flexibility of the gallery display types supported in WordPress posts.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Alan

Hi Alan, what exactly are you wanting to accomplish with the URL that you linked? Which content do you want moved where?

    Hi Jarrett,

    Thanks for your reply!

I’m hoping to have more control over the layout of the images.

I know that the aesthetic of Orvis is based on large images, focusing on the pictures. Unfortunately, the kind of images I’ll be showing here don’t quite suit this as the viewer needs to see the whole picture to understand the content and also there can be many, many images.

So, I’d like to disable Orvis’ portfolio gallery reformatting behaviour.

I’d like to have control over the gallery image sizes, be able to use the “tiled” etc layouts for WordPress galleries and also re enable lightbox behaviour for gallery images when clicked.

Compare the above to this Post version
    https://www.sarahmccolgan.co.uk/w/the-brothers-size/
This allows me to use the other gallery layouts (but not yet managed to make the lightbox work again, which I haven’t managed to work out!).

    Thanks again!

    Hi Alan,

There’s no option in the theme to override this behaviour. To prevent single projects from pulling images out of the gallery like that, you’d have to create a child theme and make changes to the PHP and JavaScript files that control this behaviour.

We’re not able to provide help with that type of change, so if this isn’t something you can do on your own you might need to hire a freelance developer to make the necessary changes for you instead.

Here is the hack i use, like old days…

The 1×1 pixel image transparent !
Import one in your project, then use a gallery widget that use short code, and put the short code in the legend of the transparent 1×1 image ^^

    Hope it helps
