Change Public Display Name to Nickname for all users?

    I would like to change Public Display Name from default (Username) to Nickname for all existing and future users on my WordPress website.

    I could do this manually for each user by using the dropdown “Display name publicly as” but that’s not an option for big community websites.

    All help is appreciated.

    There might be some plugin or some specific code which can solve this issue, I am not that sure though.
