• SO!

The content on my site is VERY fluid, and in the coming months pages will have new parent hierarchies in the backend. This will obviously mess up in-page, cross site links (like a link in the middle of a page to another page.)

My solution is to use shortlinks throughout the site, so they remain working no matter how much I change the page’s hierarchy.

Problem is, /p=34234 is not exactly helpful for Google ranking. So, I’d like wordpress to automatically chance the shortlinks to the page’s permalink instead. IS this possible, with either a plugin or a setting?

    Thanks in advance

  • You can change your permalinks Settings -> Permalinks.
As for the hyperlinks in the middle of page to another page: It is my understanding that when you add the hyperlink if you selected the page/post from the “Link to existing page” (instead of typing in the URL) once any URL’s are changed those will change for you automatically.
    Does this help?

    Hi Overhall,

    Thanks for the reply!

The problem is that I’m using a 3rd party template, and it has different little add-ons that can add a link. While the core system link system can automatically change the links, WordPress won’t change 3rd party plugins that place links.

So what I need is something that will automatically change those shortcode links to permalinks no matter how they are placed, even if its through a 3rd party plugin.

    Isn’t that fun? ??

Oh Lordy! Good luck I don’t have a clue. Sorry I could not help however I will surely pray for you – LOLOL
