Change slider transitions

Hi, I really like the slider on the front page, but I hate that it cycles through a bunch of different transitions (some of the transitions are really obnoxious).

I would just like a simple slide or fade transition so that the weird transitions don’t detract from the images or the rest of the website. It seems like I don’t have control over the slider transitions at all — is this correct?

Is there a way for me to change it on the coding side?
