• Hello.
I had received feedback in my theme forum to use Loco Translate in the below way. Am I missing something because it does not seem to be able to solve this:
My convo: Thanks so much for any insight.

    Hello.

I added the chronological plugin to change the order of my posts as it reads like a story in time order. I need to now change the wording in the buttons at the bottom of each post and category pages: so that ones that currently read Newer Posts switch to older and vice versa.

    Issue occurs (example) :https://www.wtfjusthappened.net/category/posts/page/2/

    Thank you very much.

    Hello, @elspethlillie

You can use the translation plugin like Loco Translate for that.

Not a very useful response from the support team there.

I think what they’re suggesting is you create an English translation file in which you create a translation of “Newer Posts” that reads “Older Posts”. A bit confusing, but it would work.

However, I can’t find the text “Newer Posts” anywhere in that theme and the link you’ve given is Not Found.

You may be better off creating a child theme instead of using English->English translations in this way. I can’t advise on coding child themes however, not least because I can’t see the texts you’re trying to alter.

Further to this, I see that the text “Newer posts” is actually in the WordPress core translation files. Creating core translations means generating a POT file, but it is possible.

What have you tried so far?

Hi.Thanks for your help. So far I went into the CSS and tried to find this section to change the text. I had no luck. I also tried to do an inspect element to see if there were any clues as to how to access this, but I had no luck. I am not that experienced with coding, so I might need to look up a bit more before I can do this.Such as how to generate a POT file.
