Change the colour of the footer

    I have been trying to change the colour of the footer but not successful. This is the CSS code I used.

    .site-footer { background-color: #465c86;}

    this does not work

    I also tried

    .site-footer {color: #465c86;}

    and it doesn’t work either. Please help.
