WordPress hasn’t changed the default font in at least 4 years (as far as I could go back on the same file on GitHub, it’s almost certainly much longer than that). It is still Georgia. If it is changing it would be because your theme is loading its own styles in the editor so that it reflects how the content appears on the front end. Have you been changing theme?

It’s also worth noting that the font in the editor is not actually being applied to your content. The font will be determined by your theme.

Thanks for your reply. Nope, no changes in our theme, a custom theme from GabFire. The site is
For years our editor defaulted to Arial which is our choice with our theme.Perhaps this was set by the theme. I have reset every file I can find to show Arial as the default, but with no success.
After the previous update, the default became Georgia.(in my system)
Then, after this most recent update, the default has become Ralway. I’ve tried several plug-ins that claim to change the default font but they haven’t worked.
Even if it is imposed by my theme, it seems like a reasonable request of WordPress that we are allowed to change this setting in our own system.
