When someone visits my blog, they get the latest posts in full.

I’d like to change this but I don’t know how. What I would like is for the default page to show just the first few lines of each post like it does if you use search or select a category or poster.

    How can I do this?

    TIA

    Brian

Sorry this one has just confused me.

    1. It says If you have set your WordPress site to display post excerpts. Well I haven’t set it to do that yet. It’s what I want to achieve.

    2. Another instruction is replacing the template tag the_content() with the_excerpt(). What is a template tag and where do I find it? I found <?php the_content() ?> in three files. I changed all of them to <?php the_excerpt() ?> but it made no difference.

    3. The codex article also refers to Administration > Write > Post SubPanel but that does not exist. I have Administration > Post SubPanel but cannot marry that up with the text.

    Grateful for further help. Thanks

I have found a plugin called Post Teaser. It does more or less what I want, except that it doesn’t suppress images like WordPress search does.

It will do for now unless anyone is kind enough to help me through the images thing…

    thanks ??
