• I would like to change the name of the page named “Home” to “Blog”. Is that possible? If it is, how is it done?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Sure, what’s the template tag used to call your navigation? Are you using static page as home page or not? OR Site URL?

Open header.php of the theme you are working with. The “home” link reference is probably hard-coded into that file.

    I’m using “Mystique 1.62”.

I’ll try what ClaytonJames says at once but if mercime has any good advice I’ll gladly read it.

No, I can’t make it work. Any other advice is welcome.

Here’s what I want to achieve. I want a website with a blog on it but I don’t want the blog to be on the starting page.

Can that be done through WordPress?

There used to be a “hide the home button” feature in the advanced settings page of mystique. The last version of the theme I used was 1.16, but you might want to explore that option first of it still exits.

    These might be helpful.

“You can decide if you want posts, or a “static” Page, displayed as your blog’s front (main) page.”

I can’t find any “Advanced settings” at all and changing starting page is not really what I was searching for. The only thing I want is to change “Home” in the meny at the top of the page to “Blog”. I want it to point at the same page as before, it’s only the name on the menu that I want to change.

Thank you for taking the time.

Does anybody know where one can find the html-codes for the menu?

If your wordpress theme use gnutext localization you can easaly change that word, but maybe best way is to do is to open some php editor, notepade++ for example, because that word is hardcoded, find it,and then change it.

Thanks a lot Darthvan. Do you know which of the many files I should modify?

I think 2 files, header.php and single.php, what theme are you using, look in theme folder do you have single.php?notepade++ have option search in files,so you can easily find word home where and in what files is locate.

    I’m using “Mystique 1.62”.

I tried to find it in the file you proposed and I didn’t find it.

The only thing I want is a template which can handle a blog AND a website at the same time.

First back up theme ?? I am glad that I helped you. ??

I just downloaded mystique 1.62 and installed it on a test server.

    Dashboard > Appearance > Mystique Settings > Navigation >

Put a check mark in the box that says: “Exclude From Navigation: HOME”

And surprisingly enough, home page link is no longer in the navigation. Tested, confirmed.

All that’s left is to create the pages you want, link them to where you want, and assign a page for your blog entries.

mystique 1.62 is nice theme, programming knowledge is not necessary ??
