    Hi,

Is there a way to change the release dates that are showing up on iTunes? Right now almost all current episodes have one release date because that’s when I uploaded them. But I want to change all the release dates. Do I have to start all over again by changing the dates in my website? Do I do that on iTunes or Blubrry? If I change any or all, will it affect my podcast channel on iTunes.

    Hope someone could help me.

    Please advise.
    Thank you.

Change the publish dates for the individual posts on your WordPress site. Then give Apple Podcasts 24 hours to update the information on your show’s public listing there.

It would be nice to be able to set the date manually without messing with the blog post date.

Reason being, if we want to update the blog post and give it a newer date (to bump the updated information to the top of the blog for our readers), that’d mess up the date on the Podcast feeds too, which could throw off iTunes / Google Play / etc.

Can we get a feature request to get a manual date / timestamp in the “Podcast Episode” section?

    Thanks!

The only way this could ever work with WordPress/PowerPress would be for the posts you want to change publish dates on to never also include Podcast Episodes. PowerPress relies on the blogging functionality built into WordPress in order to create podcast feeds. PowerPress can’t create publish dates on its own that’d somehow be different from the publish dates of attendant blog posts on the site.

    Hello @ambj1994,

If I understand you correctly, you want to be able to set one date for your blog posts as far as how they appear on your website, and another date for the RSS feeds? Something like this would be outside of the scope of PowerPress itself.

WordPress gets the date for RSS (as well as pages) feeds using the function get_post_time(). It has a filter “get_post_time”. It is possible to create a plugin that allows you to set a date/time separate of your blog posts. That only solves making a different date appear in the feeds. As Shawn said, WordPress manages the RSS feeds, PowerPress extends upon this functionality. You would have to add hooks to change the ordering of the SQL queries to correspond with the different date information otherwise your podcast episodes will be ordered by the webpage date/time rather than your overridden feed date/time. What you want to achieve is very challenging and though Shawn said it is not possible, you could create a custom plugin to do this but it would tkae a lot of development time to put it together.

What is the primary goal? If you are trying to order items on the home page, there are already other solutions for doing that.

    Thanks,
    Angelo
