Hi, I was wondering whether it is possible to change the color of the title text and tag line text in the 2011 theme?

    Thanks,
    Martin

Sure it’s possible. Do you have a Custom CSS plugin or are you using a Child Theme?

    Hi, Andrew,

No, I don’t have a custom css plugin and I’m not using a Child Theme. I’m really new at this and don’t know too much.

As I said, I’m using 2011 and really only have 1 page up, a static home page, that I’m experimenting with in order to get a feel for things. REALLY just at the very beginning.

What would you suggest I do? I don’t really know any css, but if there’s a place in the file for me to edit, I guess I could find it and put in the proper hex code for the color.

Well, wait a minute. I do have the WooDojo Custom Code widget, which I’ve never used, but do you know whether this might be something I could use to change the css for the title and tag line, assuming I knew what to enter in there?

    Thanks for the help,
    Martin

It may be worth first reading through this page regarding changing the text colour:
    https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_text_color.asp

And this regarding general CSS syntax:
    https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_syntax.asp

That may help you understand the code we recommend you use later on.

Thanks, Andrew, I’ll go read them right now.

Well, they were short and sweet and very clear. I do understand what they’re saying. I guess now I need to know what to put where.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Can you install this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin/ ?

It’s so that you can put your CSS modifications in with the theme without modifying the theme’s files, using its section of the dashboard.

    Hi, Andrew:

Just went over and downloaded it and it installed just fine. So I guess the answer is “yes,” ??

    And thanks for the screenshot.

    That’s okay.

Do you have Google Chrome or Firefox?

Can you right click on the site title and select ‘Inspect element’ [demonstrated]?

A new toolbar will appear. That toolbar shows HTML along the left-hand side and CSS on the right-hand side [demonstrated].

Look at the CSS. You can see a colour style. That is the style you need to override [demonstrated].

Try copying that CSS and pasting it into your Custom CSS Manager section of the dashboard. Then change the colour value (21759b) to the colour you want in a hexadecimal format.

Yes I can, Andrew. I’m going to give it a try and see if I can get it right. I’ll report back.

    Thanks.

That’s just going to change the hover state.

To change the normal state of the titles try copying the style just below [demonstrated] and pasting that into your Custom CSS Manager.

    Got it! Thanks.
