change to new photo width size

Hi there
I am managing to replace the file, which the original was 600px wide, how can I have this so it automatically changes all the new files to the size of the new file which is 780px wide? I am finding the replaced file the same size as the original, being 600px.
Oh I hope this makes sense. Thank you for your help.
