Change welcome_head to img/Logo

I would like to change the Welcome Text to display a logo. I see the welcome_head in the options.php. I got it to change to an upload option in the Theme Options in WordPress Admin, but it displays the url location of the image file and not the image itself on the site. I am assuming there is another place that needs to be addressed. Thanks. If I put the logo in the header, it moves the menu/nav down too far, so would like the logo to the left of the slider.
