Change widget area background color- Publication Theme

    Hello everyone!! I am working with a child theme and I would like to change the color of the side area where the widgets go. I have tried with the following:

    .widget-area {
    background-color: #fff;
    }

    I thought it would work, but it hasn’t. What should I do instead?
