So I saw many hacking attempts on the good ole ‘admin’ account for wordpress, so I added a new user, granted them Administrator rights and then deleted the old ‘admin account. Now every time I login with my new account, I get a message saying: ‘A user with username “MyNewAdminName” who has administrator access signed in to your WordPress site’

Is there a way to alter which account WordFence thinks is the “correct” admin account ? I tried removing and re-adding WordFence and it just kept all the old settings (that’s not much of a removal is it… but thats a different topic).

    Any ideas Community Folks?

  • Hi @hellfyr,

You’re receiving this alert because the “Alert me when someone with administrator access signs in” option is enabled (on the “Wordfence –> Dashboard –> Global Options” page, in the “Email Alert Preferences” section).

Regarding removing/resetting Wordfence, please see this article from our documentation.

HI @hellfyr, as Yann explained this is an option that can be enabled or disabled. I’m curious do you have “Only alert me when that administrator signs in from a new device or location” enabled?

    Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in responding…

Looks like the following are both checked:
    – Alert me when someone with adminstrator access signs in
    – Only alert me when the administrator signs in from a new device or location

But when I logged in today, I did NOT get the same alert I had been getting. so I dunno if one of the WordFence updates fixed it, or something just hadn’t propagated yet. In any case it seems to have resolved itself. Will reopen thread of the issue reappears.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!
