So I created a fresh WP install (let’s call it site2) with no other themes nor plugins because I was having problems with the hamburger menu on let’s call it site1. I then installed Blocksy.

I created a menu with just the default page in it.
    I go to Customizing > Header > Menu 1 > Design tab > Dropdown Options > Design
I change Items Background Color to whatever.
Publish, then I preview the default page, hit the hamburger, and still the same black default color.
I also changed the font but no good.

Also on site1 when I click on the hamburger the spinning X does its thing but no dropdown.

    Hey @thomasaj

Actually, this is correct. The header has two separate views, the desktop and mobile view. From your description, you’ve only changed it for the desktop view. To change it for the mobile view, please switch to mobile, then select the off canvas menu, as shown here — https://ibb.co/FWky70m

Regarding Site 1, we will need for you to tell us the URL, so we can analyse it.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you Eduard
I had no idea what that Offcanvas Menu meant.

Ok so that’s clear but I tell you what’s very confusing…perhaps future design changes?

Customizing > Header > Offcanvas Menu
    AND
    Customizing > Header > Offcanvas

So much simpler if combined into 1 longer scrollable…

When learning your layout it’s just about impossible to notice that “Menu” is missing or conversely appended.

Is this design a WP directive I wonder?

    Thanks again

    Hello @thomasaj

Actually, if you think about this a bit it makes sense.

The Off Canvas (Area) is the slide out view that shows up on mobile when you click the trigger button.

The Off Canvas Menu, is the menu that’s being housed inside the area, with all the other elements.

I will notify the developers about the Off Canvas Area confusion and hopefully we’ll be able to make it a little bit more clearer for the next update ??

    Thanks

Yes it does make sense in the context you outlined, for sure, but from the context of ‘early usage’…

Perhaps in the Left hand panel just call it ‘Offcanvas’ and have the menu and ‘canvas’ as separate sections.

    No need to reply ??
