I changed the permalink structure on my site. It now is domain/category/postname before this it was domain/postname

This didn’t work very well. The old links still work and the new links likewise work. This makes about 50 percent of my blog duplicate content.
How do I get rid of all these unnecessary URLs.
Can all these extra URLs slow down my load time for the site. It takes 2 or 3 times as long for the site to load now.

    thank you for your consideration

    Are using any cache plugins?

    Yes? Try deactivating them.

Also, try clearing your browser cache.

I deleted everything in the cache and verified it by looking at how many files were cashed. It was 0. I also cleared my Firefox browser.

The site seems to be just as slow loading. Sitemapdoc.com also shows all the previous and new URLs. So they are still there.

I am not sure what to do. I did put in a plug in called “Redirect” could that be causing the site to hold all those URLs. because it is redirecting people to the right URL. I did deactivate it. Should I remove it.

I went to sitemapdoc.com and got a list of all the urls on my site. At the bottom of that list, is a list of duplicate URLs. I verified the dups were dups and submitted them the Google webmaster tool for removal.
I was hoping for something a little more automated, but this is working.
I also found a plugin that won’t allow urls with “tag” in the m to be indexed.
most of my dups had “tag” in them

    Thanks for helping me
