• I installed an SSL certificate, and petfinder listings started to display “No pets available at this time.” I went to my petfinder API account and updated the URL there to https but it still didn’t work. So then I switched everything back to http and now it still isn’t working. Thanks for any suggestions.

Looks like your pets started displaying. Could have been just a caching issue.

Thanks for your reply. I turned on debug and got the rate limit exceeded error. The timing I guess was coincidental that it happened right after I switched the site to use https. I changed the count to 50 and also enabled caching. After my daily usage reset, pets are displaying again.

Glad it started working again! You can also contact Petfinder support and ask them to remove your API limits. I know of a few people who have done that. Caching on the site will definitely help reduce your API requests too.

Thank you, I did contact Petfinder about that. I also found Petfinder’s new responsive embeddable pet list which actually would work fine for our purposes.
