• Hey There,

I’ve read some past trouble-shooting and it looks like I’m not the only one who’s accidentally changed my url in my WP general settings and now am locked out of my dashboard in order to fix it.

    AH! Now what?

In reading some of these other posts, I’ve since had a hard time locating an external DB to update the wp-config.php which looks like how most say to fix the problem.

I don’t believe we had a host company. I believe WP was speaking directly to our godaddy urls.

Can someone Please help me fix this.

Our site is currently https://www.reconnw.com being forwarded from the original – https://www.reconnorthwest.com.

Happy to explain more where needed.

    Thank you. Thank you.

  • GoDaddy is your hosting company – and yes, you’ll need to use Cpanel or FTP or have access your database to fix this. GoDaddy will be able to help you get that set up. See:

    Thanks for the feedback!

When calling GD they say I was never hosted by them and that they are unable to get me into server information that is solely through WP.

Is there any external way to access my Wp files from my old dashboard now that I can’t log in?

The link you’ve offered is helpful but without previously having a external server away from WP I’m not sure I’ll be able to solve this problem. Is that right?

Any other suggestions I’m grateful for. Thanks for your time again. It’s much appreciated.

Here’s the info on both of those domain names:

    https://www.whois.com/whois/reconnorthwest.com

Looks like that one was just changed yesterday? What was it before?

This one appears to be the same for several years – set to GoDaddy:

    https://www.whois.com/whois/reconnw.com

So I really don’t know what to suggest. Perhaps you could ask them to look at that info.

But domain name registration and nameserver settings doesn’t mean that your site was hosted there – if the nameservers for the first name were set to something else until yesterday, that could be where it was hosted. But no one here has any info about that. Who have you been paying for hosting?

    hey there!

your godaddy account should have FTP access or a cPanel type interface that you log into via the web.

are you familiar with ftp? do you have the ftp credentials?

I’ve taken some classes in ftp but a bit ago. I’m having a hard time logging into FileZilla but perhaps the info from the links above could help.

You’ll need FTP info from GoDaddy – but if they say your site isn’t hosted there?

    Yeah.. doing some digging.

    Thanks for trying.
