I just changed the domain for my site, from
    domain.dev.com
    to
    https://www.domain.com

installed a fresh wp 3.1, copied over the content/themes/plubins subfolders, created a blank database also and exported sql file, made url updates in db, and imported to new db. Import went fine. updated wp-config to point to new db/user. Site is partially up.

problem is now when I go to the new site, a few things are missing/broken. for example, some images are showing as not found m(red x).

also, article links are also broken if I were to click on an them. I should say that its broken using the ‘full url’ but if I were to replace whats after the domain.com/ with ?p=73 for example, the article displays fine.

Theres sommething i’ve missed in updating the db. any ideas?

  • WordPress, because it is dynamic, works better with absolute urls rather than relative.

Your problem sounds different though. Have you switched to the default permalinks to see if this makes a difference?

I’m having similar issues. My page displays fine but my links don’t work.

    millerb7 – url?

    Tks kmessinger

changed permalinks from custom (/%post_id%/%postname%/) to default and now the links to other pages/articles work.

however two things not displaying….image on main page and facebook plugin on main page.

    dev site 100% fine: https://ssemeraldspa.dglsi.com
    relocated site with issues: https://www.ssemeraldspa.com

…also, at the end of the day, i would really want to move back to nice plain text urls as displayed by /%post_id%/%postname%/

The image rotator is not set up the same way on the relocated site as it is on the dev site. Data is missing. I don’t see the source code for the facebook plugin on the relocated page.

Now that you have switched to default permalinks, try switching back. Sometimes that “wakes up” the data base.

thanks a bunch. all working again.
changing the permalinks back to custom ‘woke them up’ and now are back to the way they were.

had to reinstert some of the html into the text widget to get that up and running again.

    Thanks!
