Hi forum,

I made a big mistake. I changed the wordpress URL (settings, general) and the account email address at the same time and now nothing is working.

I didn’t get a email to say the address had changed.

HELP!!!!

I’ve had to create a new www.ads-software.com account to send this message.

Okay understood. Your WP URL should be https://localhost:8888/CP%20wordpress/ for the frontend then.

Please try opening the readme and license files with these URLs,
https://localhost:8888/CP%20wordpress/readme.html
https://localhost:8888/CP%20wordpress/license.txt

Please check that the folder is still named “CP wordpress” in your system, if that changes, the site wouldn’t work as well and hence the error.

Similarly, in the database change your “home” and “siteurl” in the options table to https://localhost:8888/CP%20wordpress/ instead of what I had suggested earlier which was a generic URL not specific to your installation.

The purchase of a hosting service is nowhere connected to the local MAMP server.

OH MY!! it’s working… I cannot thank you enough. You made me realise I had /wp-admin on the end of the URL instead of just https://localhost:8888/CP%20wordpress/

Please forgive my lack of knowledge about WordPress. Today is my first day using it.
