• This is driving me up a wall.
Using the theme Expressions, and the plugin Simple Side Bars, I add a different sidebar to most pages. Generally, this works fine.
However, sometimes, I make a change, or add new widget to a side bar, and the change shows up on my editing computer, but not elsewhere.

I use 2 computers when working with WP; One, my editing computer, I am logged in as admin so I can make changes. On a second computer, I am not logged in, so I can see what a visitor sees before he/she logs in or registers.

If I log out of my editing computer, the changes still show BTW, but not on any other computer.

I have tried everything I can think of, and I cannot find a link between the changes I make that do appear, and those that just don’t.
Going back to the sidebar, my changes are still there [no, I am not forgetting to save].

Can someone give me a clue where to look to resolve this?

    The web site is chameleon-business-systems.com

    Thank you for any assistance.

Sounds like a cache issue. Have you cleared your browser cache? Are you using a cache plugin? Is your web host serving cached pages?

I have been clearing my browser cache often. I do have WP Super Cache plugin activated.

I am not knowledgeable about my host [ Hostgator] with respect to serving cached pages.

Use the plugin’s controls to clear the cache and check for the problem again.

Most likely your site visitors are being served cached pages, but you are seeing your changes even after logging out because your browser has cached them.

    Thank you Bill.
Clearing that cache did the trick.I guess my concern now is, how often do I need to clear that, or using that plugin not advisable?

    Glad that worked for you.

This isn’t necessarily an issue with the plugin. It’s just how a cache works. As long as you can see your changes as you work, you can just keep working (clearing your browser cache as you go). When you’re ready to push the changes out to your site visitors, just clear the cache generated by WP Super Cache. The old pages will (should) be flushed and replaced with pages that reflect the new changes.

Please mark this resolved if you’re comfortable that it is. If not, just post back again.

Bill, I think I spoke too soon. It worked once, so I made a change then checked again. The change fails to appear. I then deactivated the cache plugin, the change is still a no-go. I cleared the browser again, but still no-go.
Something is holding past code for a page. If not browser, and the cache plugin is deactivated, then what could it be?

Sometimes before you de-activate a cache plugin, you need to clear it first. Then you can de-activate it.

Bill, it looks like you were right on the money!
I reactivated the plugin, cleared the cache, then set the cache off. Now things seem to be working as expected.
    THANK YOU!
