Changes in post occur at edit but disappear if post edited again

  • I have been running 2.0.

    When I write a post and publish, the post appears.

    When I re-enter the post to edit, the edit appears when I save.

    However, if I return to edit again, the previous edits have disappeared and the original post has returned without any edits.

    I upgraded to 2.0.2 and the problem persist.

    This is happening on one site that I manage but not on another site both using 2.0.2.

    Anyone else out there having the same or similar problem or can anyone give me a solution to this. It’s a bit frustrating to make edits and then they disappear.

  • Besides the usual culprits of plug-ins and internet explorer, I would probably blame the WordPress boogie-man. I’ve found a few bizarre things here and there on my site and I have no other explanation sometimes!

    You may want to upload a fresh copy of the programme to the server, just in case somethings been corrupted somewhere. Since the problem has persisted through versions, I’m guessing it’s some kind of wonky server thing. The other blog that you have, the normal one, is it on the same server as the wonky one?

    Both blogs are on the same server.

    This happens to me ALL THE TIME. Especially with inserting spaces before and after a photo. I use Flickr Photo Gallery plugin. I find it VERY frustrating also to create a post, go back to edit it, the spaces are gone, I put them in in a variety of ways, they appear, disappear when I press Save or Publish. Even if a I just press enter! Even if I put in the HTML and the HTML is correct!

    I’m baffled. And frustrated (have I mentioned that I’m frustrated?)

    Are you using the basic editor?

    I have tried using both the rich text editor and the basic editor. Both seem to take out the line breaks or empty lines or br’s or p’s. If anyone has any hints as to putting in blank lines and keeping them there, I’m all ears. Someone mentioned pressing Enter twice, but that doesn’t seem to work. Sometimes it works on the initial post, but if I go back to edit and then save again, WordPress removes the blank lines.
