Changes to 2.8.2?

    I was wondering what files were updated in version 2.8.2 – is it possible to upload/overwrite a few files instead of going through a full upgrade? I ask because I always upgrade manually (had some issues in the past) and if I could avoid going through the whole process that would be a lot easier.

    I know in the past there were options to update a few files only – version.php of course and whatever file(s) changed. There doesn’t seem to be a changelog for this version yet so I don’t know if maybe a lot of the files were changed? Thanks!

    I compared 2.8.2 to 2.8.1 and found the files that were updated. Since it’s more than a few files I guess it would be easier for most just to simply upgrade the entire install manually or auto-update.

    wordpress/ readme.html
    wordpress/ wp-admin / comment.php & edit-form-comment.php
    wordpress/ wp-admin / includes / comment.php & template.php
    wordpress/ wp-includes / comment-template.php & default-widgets.php & version.php

    is there an official list of changed files?

    it used to be included with every announcement but the changelog is getting more and more rare recently.

    There doesn’t seem to be a changelog for 2.8.2 yet. I upgraded to 2.8.1 a few days ago so I just did a side-by-side comparison to check for files with newer dates.

    Trac has all the details (as usual): The changes from 2.8.1 to 2.8.2.

    im not too familiar with trac, for future reference could you tell me how I would go about searching the difference between any two version numbers?

    1) If I just overwrite the changed files, will my Dashboard say that I still need to upgrade?

    2) Does automatic install just overwrite the files it needs from 2.8.1, or does it do an entire delete and reupload?
