  • out of curiousity, why do you want to do that? Its done because & isnt valid markup.

    the best way I can explain is this

    I was linking a website with part of the url name being Commercial&Commercial

    I ended up with problems because it took the & and added amp to it, which made it wrong.

    encoded ampersands (done correctly) dont break urls.
