Changing admin email associated with license

I would very much appreciate support on this. The reason this is an issue is because I’ve used a type of email address for notifications that is producing problems for one hosting provider, and so they intend to ban websites that send notification emails to the offending destination. So, I very much need to be able to replace the original Wordfence admin address with a new one.

If you need to change the email address that alerts are sent to, you can do that on the Wordfence Dashboard > Global Options page in the General Wordfence Options section where it says “Where to email alerts”.

If you need to change where email alerts are sent from that’s not a value that is set by Wordfence. We use the wp_mail() function built into WordPress and all emails from there come from [email protected] (replace yoursite.com with your actual site URL, of course). There are several plugins available that allow you to change that in the WiordPresss.org repository but I cannot vouch for their functionality or useability as we don’t make them.

Also just so you know, we have staff here to answer questions but they do not work 24/7. If you need faster support then a Premium license may be something you should look into. Support here can be delayed depending on workload, weekends, holidays, etc.

Many thanks for the replies. I’ve found that when I’ve changed the email address in the field you mentioned that alerts are then sent to both the new and original email addresses. I need to be able to stop email going to the original email address, which was used when I signed up to the service. Is there any way of eliminating this entirely (by upgrading to the premium service if necessary)?

The only way it would be going to the original email I can think of is if it was still there (we allow multiple emails as long as they are separated by commas), if there was a problem with the database where you weren’t able to delete records (you can check the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page in the MySQL section to check for permissions or the Database Tables section to see if there are any errors listed indicating database corruption), or if you have the site in Wordfence Central and alerts are set there to be emailed to the old address.

Can you look at those situations to see if it could be the problem?

Thanks again for the reply. I’m afraid my level of technical expertise means that I struggle to follow what you’re saying. I should point out that I’m using the free version of Wordfence. Are the principles you’re stating here applicable to both free and paid versions?

Am I right in thinking that the email addresses used are held locally or remotely?

Would upgrading provide the opportunity to delete the original email address?

Is the relevant value held in the xxxx_wfconfig table?
