• Hi,

    I just created a blog and I would like to change its appearance. I’ve already downloaded an appearance, but how do I install it into my blog?

    Also, how do I install the stats?

    Thanks

    I tried your link, but nothing is working.

    I even tried to download an FTP, but that isn’t helping either.

    This is what I get when I try to install a theme:

    Warning: include_once(/home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ethnic-purple/) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: Success in /home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 473

    Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘/home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ethnic-purple/’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 473

    wp-content/plugins/ethnic-purple/

    from the path, it looks like you put the ethnic purple theme into the plugins directory. It should be in the themes folder
    wp-content/themes/ethnic-purple/

    If ethnic-purple is the name of your theme, you uploaded it into the plugins folder, not the themes folder. move the ethnic-purple folder from plugins into themes and you should be ok

    OK, I’ve been trying this, but it still comes up:

    Warning: include_once(/home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ethnic-purple/) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: Success in /home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 473

    Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘/home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ethnic-purple/’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home7/royalty3/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 473

    It also says

    Folder already exists.: ethnic-purple

    Installation Failed

    Delete the folder ethnic-purple and all of its contents from the plugins folder

    Then upload the theme from your computer once again, making certain you are uploading into the /wp-content/THEMES folder

    I did that, and I still got the “folder exists” & “Installation Failed”

    Is there a hotline for www.ads-software.com or any way to get immediate contact with their tech team?

    WordPress is a free open source product. This forum is the tech support. www.ads-software.com does not do tech support.

    If you are willing to pay a reasonable price for support, take a look at this https://alexking.org/blog/2009/04/13/wordpress-helpcenter

    Otherwise you can ask more questions here.

    At this point I recommend that you start over. Keep the database and definitely keep the wp-config.php file. Delete all the other WP files including plugins and themes

    Using PhpMyAdmin, delete (drop) all the tables in the database.

    Then upload WP again, then run the install. Then upload your theme into the correct folder.

    It will prove to be much faster for you to start over than to go through back and forth trying to debug these errors. Installing WP is a very simple and easy process, it truly is.

    I’ve been trying to start over, but I keep getting the same problems. I’m even having trouble with my FTP. It won’t connect to a server, and I don’t understand how it helps me install a theme.

    1. Download a theme zip file to your computer from a theme site.

    2. Open the zip file and extract a theme folder.

    3. Use FTP to upload the theme folder from your computer to the wp-content/themes directory on your site.

    The simple first. You download a theme from some website. You can’t download it directly to your webserver – it goes onto your computer. Then you need to get the theme from your computer to the server your WordPress site is hosted on. That is what FTP is for – it moves the files from your computer to the webserver.

    The first step is get FTP working. It is similar to setting up the database connection in wp-config.php You enter a hostname, a username, and a user password. The information on what those settings should be comes from your webhost. In most (but not all) cases the hostname is the domain name associated with your hosting account, the username and password are your hosting account username and password.

    If you can’t get that to work, I recommend contacting your webhost’s tech support for assistance. Also, if you are repeatedly getting those same error messages after deleting all the files and the database tables, ask your webhost for assistance with that also. They can see behind the scenes what is going on, which no one here can.

    I’m even having trouble with my FTP. It won’t connect to a server

    Did you configure your FTP program, so it can access the server? It needs the server name, password, path to root directory, in the settings.

    By the way, not sure what FTP you downloaded – suggest FileZilla

    OK, I just downloaded FileZilla, and got everything squared away.

    Because of a technical glitch on my Bluehost, I was able to have the operator walk me through uploading the themes.

    However, there are still problems. He suggested it might be a WordPress glitch with the themes, since I did everything correctly.

    Anyone know of any theme glitches going on?

    I need help with my boss blog. i’ve change theme by installing as plugin and it turned out to be like this. it displays even on the upper of the blog when you try to look at it.

    Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘/home2/whoisste/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sliding-door/’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home2/whoisste/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 473

    Anyone can help me pleaseeeeeeeeeeee
