Changing Categories

  • I’d like to change my category structure, and I have a question. If I delete a subcategory, will the posts it contained default to the default category, or to the parent category?

    Is there an easy way reassign the categories for hundreds of posts?

  • In answer to your first question, it doesn’t matter what category (sub or not), it will always default to the default category you have set in Settings > Writing (so choose wisely!)

    You could utilise the Bulk Editor for reassigning the categories, or possibily go down the route of renaming each category and removing the parent category in the process; the last resort would be to alter each post by hand.
