I made a duplicated copy of my client’s website over to my local computer so that I can make changes.

When transferring the website back over to their live site do I have to delete all the files in their public html folder and create a new database?

The reason I’m asking is because the database I created on my local computer is different from the database that is on their live site.

In other words when switching back and forth from local to live server, do I have to wipe the live site’s public html folder clean before I can redeploy their website?

  • Hey Screwhead28,

You don’t have to wipe the folder, there is an option on step 1 of the installer under advanced options called ‘Manual Extraction’ which will let you manually extract the zip over other files, however by default the plugin expects an empty directory just so people don’t unintentionally overwrite files.

If your doing allot of switching back and forth I would recommend using this plugin:

    Hope that helps!
