Changing date display on list view

The date is displayed as dd mon (e.g., 08 Jan). I have tried to change it to mon d (e.g., Jan 8). Nothing I try gets me there. I understand the code should be F j or M j but have not found the place to make that change. Every place I’ve used it just doesn’t transfer to the display.

If I must upgrade to pro, that should be stated somewhere. I’m in the US and the folks I’m working with want the date to be month day.
