Changing default text size site-wide

Hello everyone, I am trying to change the default text size for all my posts. I did the following:
Appearance / Editor / Styles / Typography / Text / Size / Custom. Then I typed ’24’ into the box and pressed save. This did not change the default text size of all my published posts
In this post I manually changed the first paragraph to 24 (which is the font size I want), which is clearly different to the old default text size which hasn’t updated.
Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Ok so I found out that the text size had changed from 22 to 24 site wide. The problem is the text is 24 in the Edit, but not in View. The size of the Caption text is correct, but the paragraph text is significantly too small. I have tried deactivating all plug ins and it made no difference.
Can anyone please help?
