Hi t-p,
I pulled up the article https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL, as you recommended, and followed instructions for Changing the URL directly in the database.
That is where I began my efforts to change the URL and get back to normal. So, I followed instructions and then saved my changes. The next step in the article was to go back into databases, find wp_posts and find guid entries. I also did that and checked to make sure my new URL name is showing in all the guid entries.
However, at this stage I cannot access my WP Admin Dashboard as there are apparently more steps to cover before I can get back up and running.
This is where my first (1st) question comes in.
The next step called out in the article has to do with changing table prefixes.
Question #1: I am not sure I need to do this and/or if I altered any table prefixes. Beyond that I do not understand why I need to pay attention to this step? I am not currently running multiple websites, I am just changing URLs for one (1) existing site. Is this a step I would need to do since I am only using one (1) website and I am not transferring a domain name either?
That said, after completing that step, if I actually need to, there are two more things that apparently need to be done before my wordpress blog will actually work (according to the article you referred me to).
After the table prefixes step there is changing template files and changing the config file. After those steps are successfully completed the blog is supposed to work again, so I can access.
Question #2: Where do I find and access the template files? Are they in the PHPmy Admin or do I have to check the template files in the WP Admin Dashboard? The reason I ask is because I cannot access the WordPress Admin Dashboard as this stage. When I try to do that the message below appears:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache mod_fcgid/2.3.5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at liveinjobs4u.com Port 80
NOTE: Based on the server error message above, I do not know what a 500 Internal Error is and I have no idea how the [email protected] is referenced as an email account since I have nothing set-up like that. This has nothing to do with the old URL https://www.newadventurestoday.com. The naturalanxietycures.com reference is an expired domain name i previously had used and there is nothing like that in my email accounts in CPanel. Where would that bogus email title come from?
Question #3: Since I changed my URL from newadventurestoday.com to liveinjobs4u.com, do I have to create a new WP Login for the new URL to access the dashboard? If so where do I do this and how does that step figure into the instructions in the article you referred me to for changing URL?
I need to get this right because the changes I am making in my Hostgator CPanel are irreversible, unless of course I use my database backup and start over. I really do not want to do that.
If I am asking for too much information maybe you could refer me to someone that might be able to further help me? Whatever the case I really do appreciate the help you have given me.
Thank you,
Dennis Manz
