• I created an event before the clocks changed to move from GMT to British Summer Time. After the clock change, I found that I needed to change the time of the event. When I saved the event, the time I had entered was changed back by 1 hour.

This suggests the behaviour is something to do with the time zone effective at the time the event was created being different from the time zone effective when I updated the event.

Clearly, I can circumvent the problem by setting the new event time to be one hour later than I need. However, it would be nice to understand what’s happening and, ideally, for the updated event time to be saved and displayed the same as the value that I input.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi @shed53,

It sounds like your site might be using a UTC offset, instead of a location-based timezone, under Dashboard > Settings > General. Setting this to the nearest available city should correct the issue.

If the times are still off, please check under Events > Settings > General > Time zone mode and select Use site-wide time zone everywhere.

Please check our Knowledgebase article on Working with Timezones for more information.

    Thank you,
    Erica

    Hi Erica,

Thanks for the information in your reply.

I checked both settings and found that they are already set as you advise…

Under Dashboard > Settings > General, “Time zone” is set to “London”,
while under Events > Settings > General > Time Zone Settings, “Time zone mode” is set to
    “Use site-wide time zone everywhere”.

I’ve read the Knowledgebase article you shared and that doesn’t seem to offer anything that would resolve this particular issue.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Many thanks,
    Chris

Hi @shed53, thanks for getting back to us. Out of the box, we recommend having the timezones on location-based as it is more accurate.

In your case, I suspect that since you had it on UTC first, you need to update the time respectively again, as it is now following the location-based timezone. Could you try a couple of events, edit them, and see if that works moving forward.

Lastly, please do clear caching plugins or server-side if you have any.

Let us know how it goes. Have a great weekend, Chris.

    Hi Abz,

I’m fairly sure I’ve always had the time one set to London, and never to UTC. I can’t check now until next week as I’m on holiday without my computer.

I’ll follow up your suggestions when I get back.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Abz,

Apologies for the radio silence. We’re not far from changing from BST back to GMT so I’ll have another look then.

In the meantime, I have no issues with this being closed,

    Thanks,
    Chris
