Changing from Sub Domain to Sub Folder for Mult isite

  • Before I knew what the heck I was doing I setup my first multi site with sub folder rather then sub domain. Since that time I’ve come to read that sub folder multi-site will not support domain mapping (using the WPMUDEV plug in) in a shared hosting environment, so my question is this .
    Is there a process that will allow me to back out sub folder and change to sub domain multi site without having to completely rebuild the site?

    edit the confg file, change SUBDOMAINS flase to true. Go get the new htacess rewrite rule from the tools -> Network menu.

    this WILL NOT CHANGE exisiting sites. they will cease to work unless you edit the site details.

    But yeah. The “domain mapping does not work on subfolder sites” is way WAY old news. Musta been a really old post you were reading.
