Changing homepage after installation
-
When I installed my wordpress, several years and hundreds of posts ago, I put it in one directory and then used the configuration option “Enter the address here if you want your blog homepage to be different from the directory you installed WordPress” to change the homepage.
This has worked fine for everything except that I can’t get wp-supercache to run. I’ve tried repeatedly over several versions of wordpress and supercache invariable chokes, complaining that it can’t edit the .htaccess files. I’ve posted several times in the supercache forum with no success. Since the only non-basic aspect of my blog, as far as I can see, is the homepage redirection, I’m guessing that’s the problem and supercache can’t handle it for some reason.
The simplest solution might be to move my wordpress installation over to the other directory. Would this involve anything except (1) moving all the files into the new directory, (2) Changing the setting in the General Settings page?
(Alternatively, if anyone knows how I can get supercache to work without moving directories, I’d appreciate it. I got Digged/Reddited last week and I would really have appreciated supercache then.)
