Changing Label Background

Hi.
We use Ultimate Membership Pro, which has a user registration page. We would like to make sure people see the required fields more easily besides just seeing the asterisks. Instead, I’d like to make the label of the background red. The plugin developers have not been too helpful, but they do offer general guidance such as using the Inspector tool to find the CSS for that label and then adding the edited CSS to the field you want to customize (there is a custom CSS area for each field.)
Despite trying to follow their directions, I cannot get what I see in the inspector to match up with their training videos.
Please to go this page and provide some guidance on how I could make a field like City, have red background to the label.
