• Hello. I’m new to wordpress and I could really do with some help. I have a vision for my blog but I’m having trouble getting it to look how I want. Please could someone take a quick look https://foodwithsam.com/ (By the way, all images are just examples so I could see how the theme works). I want to know if I can get rid of that menu at the top right of the page and change it to a horizontal menu bar on top of the food images and under the logo. Please please please somebody help me. Many thanks,

    Sam.

  • Technically, yes you could do that, but it would require modifying the code in the header.php file and the CSS code. So unless you know a fair amount about coding, it would be much easier to find a theme that already has the basic layout that you want.

I see. The problem is, I can find themes with suitable menu bars but the rest of the layout does not match my vision. Is it possible to paste the header code from one theme into another theme? Or would that mess things up?

    P.S. Thanks for the reply!

Yes, again theoretically, you can paste code from one place to another — but it’s not that simple because other code (particularly CSS) is theme specific — so it does not translate or transfer between themes. So you would then still need to copy over and/or redo any CSS code that is relevant to the menu.

You could also consider paying someone to do the custom work for you — you can post things like that here:

Very likely. You’ll have to know what the code means for the functions behind them. I’m pretty new to wordpress but maybe you could use a plugin like this one to add one. (In case that one doesn’t work )I’m guessing there are more plugins like this one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will try that plug in. If I don’t have any joy I might consider paying someone to edit it to exactly how I want it. Thanks.
