I first installed my site to the

https://www.customruns.com/wp directory and I should not have and just installed it to root but now I want it in the root. Things I have done so far…

    1) Moved all /wp files and folders to public_html root folder
    2) Tried to change my directory from customruns.com/wp to customruns.com in Softaculous settings in CPanel…didnt work
    3) exported the database and change all instances of https://www.cu…./wp to
https://www.customruns.com and imported the edited Sql database

It showed broken links so I imported the original one back…

My hosting company tried to help and edited the index.html file (which I still do not see) to get the https://www.customruns.com page working and it works but the links/menus still show all in the /wp directory…I’m lost ??

  • index.html is not a part of WordPress, but a poor web host support staff may not know that…the default website page for a WP.org site is index.php (theme and plugin dependent, but it’s not .html as a rule)

Oh ok thats what I figured. Which files do I change so I can get my other pages (permalinks) to show on the root when visitors click on it. If you go to my site the home page is fine but the links still link to the /wp

I tried to change the siteurl in the WP network settings but it is greyed out.

Thanks esmi! I see that page but for some reason in the General section

I do not see the Site address (URL) option to change is that normal?

I am the admin by the way and it just show the Site Title, tagline and email address.

Don’t know if I should delete the existing database and wp folder and reinstall wordpress to the root and just copy over my existing wp-admin etc docs…but I am not sure if I will break anything.

    is that normal?

No. You have two field: Site Url and WordPress Url
