    When I reverted the nexgen plug in to v1.9.2 on a site I built for an artist 7 years ago, it appears to have deleted all the images. I had tried updating it after I’d done a much needed update on the theme, but that broke everything. So I followed photocrati’s instructions on downgrading. Foolishly I didn’t make a copy of the original plug in’s files, and the artist has no back up running on the site.

    Is there any way to restore the images (which if I recall are not stored in the WP media directories)?

    UPDATE: the image files are still in the gallery directory so I guess the real problem is, nexgen isn’t finding them! Gallery show 0 pictures…when I look in the database there are no results in the wp-ngg-gallery tables.

  • Hello @webbrewers

    Photocrati Legacy
    Please, let’s check first if you are currently using the theme Photocrati and if that legacy theme is managing those galleries that you mentioned.

    In that case, our recommendation, of course, is to contact us directly because www.ads-software.com doesn’t allow us to address pro support questions (or our themes) here in the free forum. We can only address NextGEN Gallery [Free] questions only. Please submit a support request through your member account here: https://members.photocrati.com/ because we need to work with you on this through your member support ticket.

    Older version of NextGen Gallery
    In case it’s an older version of NextGen not being able to access the existing photos, we can’t provide support over those outdated versions. We are deeply sorry.

    One thing you can try is to use the option to scan folders.
    Check if the path to the folder containing your gallery is correct, and use the button “Scan folder for new images”.

    We do advise to create a full website backup before any troubleshooting.
    Please, keep us posted.

    First, thanks for the quick response. Second, thanks for setting me in the right direction. I haven’t touched WordPress for a few years, let alone nextgen so had forgotten you could check the path to a specific gallery under manage gallery. The fact that there were no galleries present didn’t help {:_:}

    So I created a new gallery and noticed the path had “_1” appended to the gallery directory. I think that resulted from the host trying to upgrade the site and messing with the database. I removed the “_1”, saved the changes and then scanned for new images and it worked. I recreated all the missing galleries, updated the shortcodes on the pages with the new id’s and everything was back to normal.

    Really appreciate your help!
