If you run some theme’s “demo installer” plugin, then it may have done exactly what the name says: installed the theme’s demo site on your site. There’s no “undo” button for this.

Normally, such “demo installers” would merely import the demo data on top of the existing site, leaving all old content intact. But as you say you can’t find any of your content in the dashboard at all, then this theme’s “demo installer” may have reset your site completely before installing its demo data.

Your best bet is to restore a backup of your site taken before you run this theme’s “demo installer”… if you have such a backup. If you don’t run a backup plugin to backup your site yourself, wait to hear from your host to see if they can restore your site/account to an earlier state for you.

If you have no backup at all, and, indeed, your content is indeed not in the dashboard at all (ie they’re not merely missing from the front site), then, I’m afraid, you may have to start over.

    Good luck!

Thanks George for your advice, I’m waiting for Webhost to help with back up as I’m not the best at using back ups to restore, fingers crossed. Another option is starting again as you and whilst uploading new stuff, in the background maybe using the google option to go back to old posts copy and pasting, I know take me forever I won’t upload them all, but at last resort i’m willing to post those or a selection of the old posts

All sorted, now apart from a few posts. It was a malicious code within a theme ( Viral News) that triggered the problem, webhost sorted it within minutes.

I’ve been able to get the posts lost from cached versions on google. got them all apart from one post not sure how to get that back, anyone does know do let me know
