• When I go to Options->Reading and change the number of POSTS displayed and then go and view my site, the old number of posts dispalyed are still showing. Why? Is something overwriting this change to the Reading options.

Thanks

• Have you cleared your browser cache and hard refreshed?

Yes we did all that.

We even opened up an old version of Netscape that we found on our hardrive that hasn’t been opened since the pyramids were constructed, and it too displayed the old number of posts that were originally designated. This is frustrating.

Link so we can tell you what we see ?

pyramids .. ??

And you made sure that where it says “Show at most” the dropdown box selects “Posts” not “Days” too?

Thread Starter zenpop

(@zenpop)

Yes. It does say ‘posts’ and not ‘days.’ We’re trying to just show 7 and it keeps showing 12, our old number of displays.

Is it possible that in writing our style sheet that we screwed something up?

What would be the name of the actual file that has the command for the number of posts displayed. This is so weird.

OK, so I exagerated about the pyramids… ??

You’re definitely inserting “7”, then clicking the “update options” button, and seeing an “options saved” message at the top of the page, right?

Thread Starter zenpop

(@zenpop)

Yes, I ‘ve done all of that and gotten the OPTION SAVED message about five times.

Try this.
Login, then go to

A long page of data should appear – does it say 7 in the relevant part there ?

Thread Starter zenpop

(@zenpop)

posts_per_page says “7”, which is what we want.

ahhh…… but are you using pages……?

At the bottom of your index.php, just about the call to the footer, do you have this ?
<?php posts_nav_link(' — ', __('« Previous Page'), __('Next Page »')); ?>

If you do not, does putting that in do anything ?

Thread Starter zenpop

(@zenpop)

I’m looking at the index.php page and at the very bottom it has something that might be a call to footer, but nothing like the page link. Have no idea what pages are. We never compose our blog entries as separate pages. We always right directly into Write, using the default first tab.

Thread Starter zenpop

(@zenpop)

On above: I mean we always WRITE (not: right) directly into Write…

Probably it’s something with the Theme.
Post your Theme’s index.php here: https://pastebin.com

List your plugins that you use also.

The Write is correct.
The display “posts_per_page” is WP for “start from the most recent, count the number of posts required, then drop a link in to the next ‘page’ of posts”

Have you put that line of code into your index.php ?
