Also is there a way to test a sale without actually selling something?

Sure, just create a product and don’t market it on your site. Is that what you mean?

Thanks Hannah, but what I meant was if there is a way to simulate an actual sale, the whole thing of adding to cart, check out process, paypal (of course not for real) , so I can see if all the email notifications and invoicing is in place before advertising the page.

So you can publish a product without displaying it on your site. Just don’t link to it from anywhere. Then from the product edit page click “preview changes” and it will take you to that page live. Then you can test and do whatever you want.

I think you mean testing checkout. For that you need to put paypal in sandbox mode. Here is a post about doing that:
