Changing permalinks makes preg_match error

  • If I change my permalinks to anything other than “default,” including the two other preset options, I get the following error message repeated about 20 times at the top of every page:

    Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/insomnia/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php on line 99

    I’ve tried disabling all plugins and it didn’t help. I’m running PHP 4.4.4.
