    Hi there,

I’m not sure what you’re asking for exactly? Why would you want the RSS feed to point to point to a new address? If you tell me why you want to do this then I can see if it’s possible to implement in the plugin.

    Hi Hugh,

The reason is because I will no longer be hosting the podcasts from my personal site, and I need to push the new feed URL from the hosted site via the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag, but I don’t see it available as an option to use via your plugin.

    For more information, please check:

It should give you a better idea of what I’m referring to.

    Thanks!

OK – that makes sense. I’ll add that in as an option to the podcast settings screen and will update here once it is published.

In the mean time if you edit the templates/itunes-feed.php file you can dd the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag in there yourself. I’ll have an update out soon though – thanks for pointing this feature out.

Thanks, Hugh. I have a couple of more features that I’d love to see in this plugin. Do you think that I can email you with some examples?

PS: I may be able to continue hosting the podcasts on my site. Hence the requests for some additional features/changes.

If you have any feature requests you are welcome to contact me from here and I will see what I can do.

I will post an update here once I have added the new feed URL option as I think that is definitely a valuable one to add.

This is a great idea. I’d like to run my feed through Feedburner (to use their stats-service) but already submitted the podcast to iTunes using the feed-url from this plugin.

    Hi guys,

I have added this feature and I have just deployed it in v1.2 of the plugin. This version also has a number of other feature additions and improvements (see the changelog for a full list of all the updates).

When updating the plugin please take note of the new location for the podcast settings page – you will now find it under the more logical location of Podcast > Settings.

    Amazing! Thank you so much!

I just realized that I created a loop between my two feeds that caused the podcast not to update.

    1) I “burned” https://frizon.nu/?feed=itunes (the standard feed) through Feedburner and created https://feeds.feedburner.com/Frizonpodden
    2) I used the plugin’s setting page to redirect the iTunes feed to https://feeds.feedburner.com/Frizonpodden
    3) The feedburner feed is now being “fed” itself…

So, if anyone was wondering, this is not a shortcut that works to get a hold of the great Feedburner stats.

Maybe the plugin will have stats in the future?

I see the problem. Having never used Feedburner myself I did not know that this is how it works – in that case, this feature is only good for redirecting your feed to a new address and not for syndicating it through Feedburner. I will do some investigation into the way Feedburner operates and handles feeds and I will update the plugin accordingly once I have established the best way to handle it.

Just to give you an update here – I have just released v1.3 of the plugin and it contains a number of updates and new features (changelog, including the ability to add a Feedburner URL with no redirect loop issues.

Thank you so much for this update. Does this mean I need to re-submit my Feedburner-URL to iTunes? (I submitted the original feed-url https://frizon.nu/?feed=itunes but that feed is now removed from the plugin’s Settings-page…).

    (@hlashbrooke)

I have removed the ?feed=itunes URL from the settings page because I have consolidated both feeds into one. I have ensured backward compatibility though, so that URL will still work. If you would like to use Feedburner then yes – you will need to resubmit your Feedburner URL to iTunes now.

Is there anyway to implement this into the plugin? I.e. not redirecting the entire feed to Feedburner, but simply being able to add the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag to the output XML with the desired feed url?
