Hello! I’ve transitioned my blog to using retina images, so my images look nice and sharp everywhere but in my related posts plugin.

Does this plugin actually generate a new featured image size based on the “custom size thumbnails” settings, called wp_rp_thumbnails? Is it not possible to simply select a different class of thumbnails that already exists?

If not, would it be problematic if I changed the sizes in my “custom size thumbnails” settings, and left my custom CSS as is so the images shrink down to retina quality? I’d really appreciate your input before I make any changes. Thank you!

  • Hi cookieandkate,

thanks for reaching out and please accept my apologies for the late response.

Would you be so kind and let me know if this is the plugin you are using for retina images: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-retina-2x/?
If so, I will test the plugin on my side and check if I get the same issues as you. It would help a lot, if you could take a screenshot of (y)our plugin’s setting, so that I can set everything as you have set. Also, please give me a link to your blog, so that I can take a closer look, if possible.

    Looking forward to your reply,

    Petra

    Hi Petra,

Thanks for your response. I actually figured it out myself. I just changed the dimensions in the plugin to match larger thumbnails that have already been generated by WordPress, and it seemed to pull those automatically. Easy fix! (I’m not using a retina plugin)

    Hey,

really happy to hear this! ??

Should you have any other questions, please let me know.

Take care and have an amazing day!
